Princess Pearl lives with her mother and father, The King and Queen of the Ocean, in a magnificent palace beneath the sea. Everyone who comes to the palace is overwhelmed by its splendour. Everyone, except for Pearl, because she is unable to see. Pearl's mother and father want to marry her off to either Prince Maravick or Prince Araman, but Pearl is not interested in their bragging. Her heart is set on Charis, the servant boy who has kept her company since she was little. But Pearl's parents aren't impressed - not at all.
