It is a sad day for the animals when Henry Goldfinch II builds himself a ship and sails away leaving the animals to fend for themselves. Safe on his island Henry begins to feel lonely and though he tries to fashion his prized carpets and furniture into replicas of the animals it is just not the same. Then comes the cloudburst and Henry discovers that there is more to life than a handful of banknotes.
