Once there was a woman who was sad because she had no children. So one day, a kind old witch gives her a magic grain of barley to plant in her garden. A beautiful flower springs up and bursts open to reveal Thumbelina, a tiny girl, no bigger than the woman's thumb. But being so small can be dangerous, and Thumbelina is picthed into one adventure after another before she finally finds safety and happiness.
