The Wheels on the Bus

This well-known ryhme is used as a backdrop for a story about all sorts of different people - mums, dads, grannies, babies and children travelling on the bus. The "fun" in this rhyme is intended to motivate children to read "their" text, given on the right-hand side of the page. It is designed for parental support and gives strong motivation to children because of the use of the familiar rhyme. It is tied in with the requirements of the National Curriculum reading targets, which highlight the value of nursery rhymes and traditional stories in helping children to learn to read.
